Today was so surreal to me for so many different reasons. It was the press launch of the _____:CANCER initiative...something that is the end product of brainstorming, table discussions, Skype calls, collaboration, convincing, design, redesign, heart-to-hearts, up, downs, and all-arounds.
At the top of my list is Heidi Burkhart. Her vision, determination, and sheer will is what has lead an amazing team towards this first event. Heidi's team of amazing men and women at Dane PCG and at Saxon/Hart put in countless man hours, early mornings and late nights to help make today possible.
Michelle and TJ - the power couple made up of PR super power, production know-how, an awesome eye for a great photo...and smiles that could light up the darkest room - these two can turn any frown upside down.
Glenn Zagoren - this man is a powerhouse. His event and marketing knowledge runs the gamut and his dedication to this project and his faith of our success kept my engine running.
Joe B - sweet sweet Joe B. Without Joe, we would have not been able to pull this event off at Facebook HQ. Joe saw the vision from day one, helped mold it, and was a catalyst in the execution.
Jenn Seracuse, the master of Pilates and an advocate for everything we wanted to show support of for the campaign. She kicked some serious ass in class this morning and I know 20 people who are going to be so sore tomorrow thanks to her.
My lululemon family - this team of strong men and women has supported me from day one...well before the thought of cancer and this part of my journey. From my ambassador store in Meatpacking all the way to my girl Megan D from Brooklyn (and soon to be MENS), this team has shown unrelenting support for everything I do. My heart beats for my extended lulu family.
Sue and Andy, Nick and Annie, Scott, Marc, Kristin, Jane, Mom, Dad and Jackie, Ricci, Yadi, Peter, Jason, Rachel, Ben, Shannon, Kelly - the list goes on and on.
None of this could have ever been possible without the incredible support of the NYC (and beyond) fitness community and my Brick family. I ran into two of my buddies in the NYC fitness scene, Noah Neiman and Holly Rilinger, at Brick today filming for a new reality show they're starring in...and man...the love that I felt from these two was so incredible - it just took my breath away. A community we are - and a community we shall forever be.
You are all my rocks. You keep me grounded. You keep my head above water. You keep the fire inside me alive. Without you - I am nothing and I thank you all so very much for this opportunity.
Tomorrow is a big day. I'm going into it with confidence and strength. I love you all and can't wait to see what else we build together.
